Teacher Training Programs in Cognitive Enrichment

Cognitive Enrichment hosted by SCEL

Well-trained teachers are essential to the successful implementation of any Cognitive Enrichment program. Thus, teacher training is one of the primary services provided by the Southeastern Center. Our director and staff conduct training at the SCEL training center in south metro Atlanta, or on site for clients.

SCEL offers training for teachers in all five levels of Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment (IE) (Three levels IE Standard and two levels IE basic). Training for each level of IE requires 40 hours of study with a certified trainer. Training for those who wish to administer the LPAD is also available.

Summer Workshops (training) at SCEL

The most concentrated time for training in both IE and LPAD comes during the SCEL annual summer training sessions. (See Training for the upcoming summer training schedule, as well as other information about training options.)

On-Site Training

Independent school systems, individual schools, organizations, etc. may contract with SCEL for on-site training, using our Model for Systemic Implementation as a guide. SCEL staffers have most recently trained teachers to use the IE intervention for school systems in Pensacola, Jacksonville, Minneapolis, Houston, and New Orleans.

See Training menu for more information about on-site training options.

Our Theoretical Base

Professor Reuven Feuerstein's programs are based on two very important theoretical principles – Structural Cognitive Modifiability and Mediated Learning Experience. For an elaboration of these theories, go to the ICELP web site at www.icelp.org.
