SCEL Training

Training at SCEL

Although the training conducted at SCEL is typically for classroom teachers, it is also appropriate for school administrators, educational therapists, staff development specialists, and parents.

(All classes are in English)

Training at SCEL is usually scheduled for the last three weeks in June, during the time of the Southeastern Conference on Cognitive Enrichment’s Summer Workshops. However, training at SCEL is available during other times of the year, depending on client and subsequent facility and staff availability.

For all training at SCEL, the site is:

The Jones Memorial Community Learning Center 5320 Phillips Dr. Lake City, GA 30260.

Classes during the Summer Workshops typically run from Monday through Friday, 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.

See Training Dates for our 2011 summer workshop schedule.

Materials & Meals

The training fees posted for the Summer Workshops include all materials, a light lunch and two breaks each day. (Participants will have a choice for their lunch, with special dietary needs accommodated when possible, with advanced notice.) A limited supply of supplementary books and materials also will be available on site for purchase.

Evening meals will be on your own, but information will be available about restaurants in the area. Usually, at least one evening meal is planned for the group.

Lodging & Transportation

Lodging will be available at a moderately priced hotel at conference rates. SCEL will arrange transportation from the hotel to the training site. For those who are interested in exploring Atlanta area attractions, information can be found at the Morrow Welcome Center.

Certified Lead Trainers

One certified lead trainer will be assigned to each class, with assistant trainers assigned as needed, based on class size. Participants should be able to establish an ongoing relationship with their trainer who will serve as a resource person for class members even after the training is over. We hope persons who have received training at SCEL will feel free to contact us concerning any questions or concerns that might arise following training.

Additional classes will be scheduled whenever interest warrants.

Learning Propensity Assessment Device (LPAD) Training

Training fees and dates for LPAD Training at SCEL will be determined by ICELP.
